ENCOURAGEMENT

You Can Do It!

ENCON 3

                                                                                                                                                                Sanjita.

It was my pre-medical student days when I was highly motivated to be a cardiologist. Hardly known to the fact that sometimes destiny holds you back, I was down with some-not-so-properly diagnosed auto-immunity disease.

This led me to be in bed for almost 3 months, unwell and writing sad poems. Heart-broken, when I heard the doctor reveal to my parents that medicines weren’t working on improving my health. Slowly and sadly, I stopped dreaming to be a doctor during this course of time. Rather, I became a sad poet in the state where I would hardly move or talk but write.

A miracle happened after 3 months when I showed signs of recovery and I could walk out of the bed. I started feeling hungry and thirsty and in no time, I recuperated.

This was that phase where my batch-mates went ahead and I lagged behind. With no aim, I joined a BA degree and later an MA. Poetry books in MA inspired me, I came out to top the Masters degree, surprisingly. I wrote almost 300 poems. Sad and romantic!

I wrote articles, got selected as student editor of the college magazine. I went ahead to do Mass Communication with an aim now! My aim was to read my bylines, as that was my thrill. I got through the job of a copy-editor and correspondent in one of the leading daily newspapers. Since then, I have never looked back.

I always thought, I am a failure in life who couldn’t serve people by being a doctor. But this new life and new success, taught me that I was still serving others by being their tongue and voice. There are many advisers around us, but life itself is the biggest teacher that teaches us in the most beautiful manner. It is only we need to understand things patiently and stay strong to move ahead.

ENCOURAGEMENT

My boss wanted me to go to college even though I had been out of high school eleven years. I was scared and afraid of failure. Many people told me I had a good job. I didn’t go to college because it was a lot of work.

A couple of weeks later while on the way home from work and trying to decide about college, I saw a sign that read “On The Plains Of Indecision Lie The Souls Of Countless Millions”. I said I’m not going to be one of them, and the next day, I called a junior college to find out what I needed to do to get admitted the next quarter. I took the necessary action and enrolled.

Even after relocation three times during the next several years, I achieved my goal and graduated. My mother was so proud of me for this accomplishment and I wish my father had been alive to see me graduate.

ACHIEVEMENT

It one thing to dream and it another to achieve it. Must times, we get faced with different challenges that makes us want to give up on does dreams and just settle for less.

Battles are fought in our minds every day. When we begin to feel the battle is just too difficult and want to give up, we must choose to resist negative thoughts and be determined to rise above our problems. We must decide that we’re not going to quit. When we’re bombarded with doubts and fears, we must take a stand and say: “I’ll never give up! God’s on my side. He loves me, and He’s helping me! I’m going to make it!” Joyce Meyer

Sometimes, I am prone to let it all go,but I keep reminding my self that God is on my side. And that keeps me going.

You need to associate with people who inspire you, people that challenge you to raise higher, people that make you better. Don’t waste your valuable time with people that are not adding to your growth. Your destiny is too important. Joel Osteen

Today am going to be sharing Daniel’s story. I  hope it gives you  the drive  to always strive to achieve. For Daniel, it was a dream come through.

When I was young, my household consisted of my mother, my grandmother, and my uncle. I had no contact with my father. My mother took a passive role in my upbringing causing my grandmother to raise me primarily. I lost her to severe pneumonia when I was 10. My mother tried to continue my grandmother’s efforts; although, began to fall short. She did more work and withdrew most days leaving me to my own actions/thoughts.ach 13

My uncle, who was providing all financial support passed when I was 11 leaving my mother and myself with no financial support. She applied for financial assistance and we were barely surviving. With my mother’s withdrawal from life, little financial skills, and poor organization I did not have food, clothes, or discipline. After an investigation by child services, I was placed in foster care. Upon returning to my mother’s care, I had lost hope of a “normal” life.                                                                                                                 ach 4
Prior to placement in foster care, I had volunteered at the local hospital to gain hospital experience, since I had wanted to be a doctor. After the foster home experience, I felt alone and destitute. I saw no hope of obtaining such a grand educational journey. At the age of 20, my son was born and I began working long hours. The relationship with his mother did not last. I continued to work; although, had many ups and downs along the path.ach 1

My mother passed away when I was 23 leaving me with no close family. My father continued to be removed. I struggled with the gap in my life and felt alone, but continued on and was married at the age of 24. My daughter was born and I promised myself to strive higher in life. I took a chance and applied for a better job, which would double my salary —I was accepted! My life was again changed due to divorce and a lay-off at 27 years old. For my children, I decided to pursue college and my dream. Succeed or not, at least I tried.ach 2
I began at the local community college and was then able to transfer to a 4-year college for a degree in Biology. I applied to 5 medical schools in the area to stay close to my children. I was accepted in 2006. I dedicated myself and did not let anything distract me from my goal.ach 14
I am now a practicing physician and could not be happier. I did eventually become close to my father only to lose him a few months before my medical school graduation. I am close with my son, who is now 22 and my daughter, who will soon be 18. I continue my journey to advanced leadership positions and continue to refuse negativity. I continue to be inspired by those I meet who have gone through much worse than I and have achieved success.ach 8

Purpose

One of the things in my life I had wanted to be clear with was purpose, I knew purpose was doing/fulfilling what one was created for, but the issue was, what is my own purpose ?

For me when i was younger I just wanted to grow up, get rich, sha get married, have children, get old and die, At least I wanted to fulfil the circle of life. . . . . .  But I could just not stop asking “WHY’’

Why on earth am I here? Why was I born to a certain family? Why are some poor and some rich? Nmm. . . Me and Questions eh. . But funny enough I did not get answer to any of them, because first of all i didn’t know who i was even asking, myself?how was i suppose to know? (in my own word:🙄😏 how i go take know?)

You know those questions you want to ask, but you don’t know who can give you the true/right answers to them, so because of that you won’t want to ask just anybody, so you keep it to yourself and try to give it an answer that you think suits                   .purpose 18So I went to God in prayers at this point I just taught the best answer I can get would be from the one who created me, right?. I prayed and prayed but I just wasn’t getting the answer to my questions, I now started wondering if I wasn’t asking the right questions. After a while I started reading God’s Word and relating stories in the bible to myself.

Yeah…, if that is your next question, I obviously continued reading, but this time from a different perspective, I started listening more and one of the things I got to realize was that every story is linked to a purpose. If you are thinking how(?) as I did at first, check out the life of Joseph. (Gen 37-50), His story took him one step at a time to fulfilling his purpose.

Getting the answer to my questions in one word was a boom. . .”PURPOSE”. Now that I know it all link to my purpose of life, “so then what is my purpose”? Ah . . . When I taught my questions have ended.  Sigh. . .

Just as mine is linked to my story, so is yours. We all have different unique purpose, mine is obviously different from yours but one thing they have in common is that it must fulfil the will of He who created us all (God). Wondering what his will is? It is for all to be saved.purpose 14

I LOVE THIS ILLUSTRATION.                                                                                                           So basically every movie is meant to pass a particular message/idea, the script is written and people are casted for different roles.

IMG_20170503_195334.jpg

So what is your role in this movie of life? Finding this role is finding your purpose. So now whether you have found that purpose or you are still yet to find it, one thing that should be in our mind, is the whole idea behind that purpose,                                                                 WHICH IShis will

Whether you find yourself in a Rich or poor home it just the settings of your role to play. So stop complaining and take up your role and start acting.

So Now I am more convinced that every story is linked to a purpose, aren’t you?for me you know why? Because everyone of us has a story. Are you fulfilling yours? Even as a banker, an accountant, a lawyer, an artist, model, a writer etc. Let your uniqueness define your purpose.

For me,Purpose is the reason I exist. . .Purpose is what I was created to fulfil . . .             Purpose is what keeps me going. . . Purpose is my very essence of living.                                                                                                                                                                                                 Purpose is what I represent. . .              smiling

So most times when I face challenges and am down, one thing that keeps me up and smiling is remembering that I am special and uniquely defined by my purpose.

I am not where I want to be yet but am definitely not where I was before because purpose draws me furthermore . . . and until I get there, I will never give up.
